How this loan calculator works
For a reducing-balance loan, monthly interest is the outstanding principal multiplied by the annual rate divided by 1,200. EMI is calculated using the standard amortizing-loan formula. The schedule rounds each monthly amount to paise and adjusts the final payment to clear the remaining balance.
Education-loan moratorium assumption
Moratorium interest is estimated as simple interest on the original loan amount for the entered months. You can choose to add that estimate to the repayment principal or pay it separately at the end of the moratorium. Lenders may use different accrual and capitalization rules. Tax eligibility is subject to current rules and individual circumstances.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the lender’s final EMI?
No. The result is an estimate; the lender’s agreement determines actual terms and fees.
Can I use a zero interest rate?
Yes. At zero interest, the principal is divided across the selected months, with a final rounding adjustment.
