In-Hand Salary Calculator: Estimate Monthly Take-Home Pay from CTC
CTC (Cost to Company) is not the same as the amount credited to your bank account. CTC can include employer contributions, gratuity provision, variable pay and benefits that are not paid as monthly cash. This in-hand salary calculator estimates monthly take-home pay from annual CTC using disclosed salary-structure assumptions, payroll deductions and an estimated income-tax calculation.
How the in-hand salary estimate works
The calculator estimates cash salary after accounting for the employer-side CTC components included in its assumptions, estimates employee-side payroll deductions such as PF and professional tax, and subtracts estimated income tax. Because actual Basic Salary, HRA, PF wage basis, bonus, benefits and exemptions vary by employer and employee, the result is a planning estimate—not a promise of your payslip amount.
How to use the calculator
- Enter annual CTC from your offer letter.
- Select the applicable tax regime.
- If using the old regime, enter eligible deductions where requested; leave inapplicable amounts at zero.
- Review the assumed PF policy and salary split shown in the results.
- Compare annual and monthly take-home, then replace assumptions with actual offer-letter figures when available.
Rules, payroll assumptions and eligibility
There is no single salary breakup or PF treatment that applies identically to every private employer. PF treatment depends on coverage, membership, eligible wages and the employer's applicable policy and statutory obligations. Professional tax varies by state and can be subject to state-specific slabs. Tax deductions depend on regime, eligibility and the relevant year. Confirm the assumptions against your offer letter, payslip and current official rules.
Frequently asked questions
Why is monthly take-home lower than CTC divided by 12?
CTC may include employer contributions, gratuity provision, variable pay and benefits. Employee deductions and income tax can reduce the amount paid in cash.
Is employee PF always 12% of full Basic Salary?
No. The applicable wage base and contribution treatment can vary with statutory coverage, eligible wages and employer policy. Review the PF assumption shown by the calculator.
Will this match my actual payslip?
Not necessarily. Use the estimate for planning and replace assumptions with the actual salary structure and payroll deductions when available.
