CTC Breakup Calculator: Basic Salary, HRA, PF and Allowances

A CTC breakup calculator helps employees understand how an annual Cost to Company package can be divided into cash salary and employer-side components. This calculator estimates Basic Salary, HRA, special allowance, employer PF, gratuity provision, gross cash salary and take-home before income tax using the assumptions selected in the form. It is useful for comparing offers or understanding a sample salary structure.

How a CTC breakup is calculated

The tool allocates CTC according to the Basic and HRA percentages selected, then treats employer PF and any included gratuity provision as CTC components. Remaining eligible cash compensation is shown as allowances, with employee PF and professional tax deducted to estimate take-home before income tax. Variable pay and other components should be handled according to the actual offer letter; not every component is necessarily guaranteed monthly cash.

How to use the CTC breakup calculator

  1. Enter annual CTC from the offer or salary package.
  2. Choose the Basic and HRA assumptions or percentages.
  3. Select the PF wage basis and whether gratuity is included in CTC.
  4. Enter variable pay and the applicable professional-tax estimate if relevant.
  5. Review annual and monthly component values, gross cash salary and take-home before income tax.

Rules and salary-structure considerations

Actual salary structures depend on employment terms, statutory requirements, PF coverage and wage definitions, state professional-tax rules and employer payroll practice. A percentage used in this calculator is an assumption for modelling—not a universal rule that every employer must use for each component. Verify the wage definition and applicable labour and tax provisions with payroll or a qualified professional before issuing or accepting a salary structure.

Frequently asked questions

Is CTC the same as gross salary?

No. CTC may include employer-side contributions, benefits and provisions that are not part of gross cash salary paid to the employee.

Does this calculator include income tax?

No. The CTC Breakup calculator focuses on the salary structure and shows take-home before income tax. Use the In-Hand Salary calculator for an estimated post-tax amount.

Is HRA always 50% of Basic Salary?

No. The HRA percentage depends on the salary structure and employer policy. This tool lets you model an assumption; it does not assert a universal HRA percentage.
